So Intriguing

Entasy - Brynn Myers

I had the pleasure of reading this as a beta reader and I can honestly say, I'm so intrigued by this story and all its characters, that it's put a delay in my own writing. I've gotten so wrapped up in Brynn's world and the potential for the next book in the series, I seriously can't focus. LOL

This novella is the prequel to the series that will feature the warriors of The Nine, and if you guys have visited Brynn's website, then you'll know that these warriors are indeed badass!! I can't wait to meet them all!!!

Entasy is focused around Kylah and who she thinks she is...who she really is...and the journey to get back to the life she was forced to forget. I LOVE Kylah. She's funny, full of life, and once she faces her past and embraces her destiny, I think she's going to be a force to be reckoned with. Aerric is just downright yummy, and while I love him and can't wait to see their story take shape, the character that I'm completely drawn to is Obsydian (aka Syd.) He is delicious-and in more ways than just the physical. I love his personality. He's fierce yet gentle, and I cannot wait to see the role he plays in Kylah's past and future.

I gave Entasy five stars because of the great world building that Brynn achieved with her detailed writing style. I could literally see the images as though I was watching a movie. The characters emotions are real and I was quickly drawn into their world.

To say I'm excited to see this series unfold is an understatement. I can't wait to be further drawn into a world of Celtic myth and magic through these amazing characters.

Looking for something short and sweet? ...You can get all three Ovialell companions in one place.

Behind The Veil contains Prophecy's Child, The Rise of Rae, and Shay and the Box of Nye. Each short-story is a glimpse into the history of one of the side-characters from the main Ovialell series. However, please note: while the companions are all YA in nature, the books in the main series are strictly adult due to graphic sex scenes.

Take a peek behind the veil...

Hot

Chains of Frost: The Bellum Sisters 1 - T.A. Grey

I LOVED this book. The story was fantastic and the sex scenes were hot. And even though there were a lot of them...wow, they weren't repetitive or gratuitous, but flowed seamlessly within the story-line.

Grey's plot had me hooked from the beginning. Three succubus sisters who were left to three alpha males in the wake of their fathers death, against their will. Talk about tension!

It was well written and fast paced, and I can't wait to start the next one in the series.

Such a Magical Journey

Shadow of Night - Deborah Harkness

I loved this book for the amount of factual details Ms. Harkness included. Once again, her research was impeccable. I loved recognizing the alchemic and spiritual/metaphysical elements that are woven throughout this entire book, since I am an avid student of these subjects. The love story between Matthew and Diana is one of legend, and experiencing history through their eyes, was a very enjoyable trip.

I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Death of a Black Rose (The Rose Trilogy) (Volume 3) - Tish Thawer
""Lifting his shirt above his head, I took a moment to revel at the sight of his chiseled chest. His thick muscles and smooth skin created the perfect canvas for my mouth." ~ Rose"

Fantastic

Frankie's Monster - Rae Hachton

I was recently gifted with the opportunity to beta read Frankie's Monster for Rae Hachton. And when I say gifted...that's exactly what I mean.

The level of raw emotion and the depth of feeling that this book portrays, had me feeling as if I owed Rae a debt - one that I would never be able to repay. The story transported me, taking me into a world of art, romanticism, beauty, violence, macabre, terror, and loss. Together those things made up one of the most moving and intelligent books I've read in a very long time.

Rae reached into her soul to write this book and it shows. 5 stars for making the monster feel!

My Favorite Book of 2012

A Discovery of Witches - Deborah Harkness

This book was so engrossing, I literally felt as thought I was in story with Diana and Matthew! The amazing detail of the alchemic process and imagery was amazing. This author did her homework! This love story touched me and left me longing to see what happens next! Vampires, witches, demons and humans and the story of their existence, from creation to evolution...what an great concept!

Great Start to a New Series

Alice in Zombieland (White Rabbit Chronicles) - Gena Showalter

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. Probably because I'd already heard all the mixed reviews. I knew it wasn't a take off on the actual "Alice" story. I enjoyed the twist Showalter put on the zombie tale and the characters she created to combat these new monsters. Cole is delicious, and I can't wait to learn more about Ali's mysterious gifts. I will definitely be continuing this series.

Five Stars

Raven in the Grave - Rae Hachton

I literally couldn't wait for this book to come out, so I talked Rae into giving me an ARC, and all I can say is...THANK YOU!!

This story moves at a slightly slower pace than the previous two books, Pretty in Black, and Black Satin, but don't let that dissuade you. It is perfectly paced for the amount of action and emotion that flows through this amazingly written love story.

You feel the feelings, you see the scenery...Ms. Hachton you certainly have a way with words; haunting words, poetic words, words that make me want to cry and force me to turn the page.

Nevermore is unlike any other world that I've ever read about, and the spin Rae puts on classic characters somehow makes them new again. Also, one of my favorite things about these books is how the author purposely puts in scenes that remind you of others. The most noticeable for me in this one was the reference to Snow White. It's so subtle, but the fact that it's woven in on purpose makes me so happy when I find them. It's like a treasure hunt inside the story. :)

Raven in the Grave finds Marcus Marble battling not only himself, but a new mysterious enemy. The discoveries that are made help to open the eyes of not only Marcus, but the entire court of Nevermore and The Land of Naught. And can I just say...Marcus Marble is H-O-T. The tomb scene, *sigh*. He's a hero with a loving heart but who's bad-ass dark side gets to come out and play and I loved it. I simply can't get enough of Marcus!

To say that I love this series would be an understatement. It's dark and edgy, and Hachton's writing style is so unique, that once again I'm left waiting with bated breath for the next one.

Five stars!!

Such a beautifully written book

The Witch's Daughter - Paula Brackston

The beauty of this book comes from it's keen words and accurate details. The trip we take through time, shadowing Elizabeth's life, is woven with such fine imagery, it felt as if I was witnessing the events first hand...a good sign of any true storyteller.

Magical

Redemption - Brynn Myers

I can't stress enough how awed I am by this story and the detailed writing Brynn demonstrates in this book.

The story line continues seamlessly from Entasy, the prequel, and builds momentum as Kylah reclaims her previously forgotten life. The character development is fantastic, and their relationships had me laughing, crying, and cussing throughout.

However, the key point that earned five stars from me is the intricate world-building. The scenes are so finely described that I wanted to be transported and left to wander the labyrinth of The Nine for months, discovering the magic of this fantastic place.

Kudos to you, Brynn, this is a masterpiece in my eyes.
