Great spin-off

Iced - Karen Marie Moning

I loved everything about this book except the repetitive use of the word "feck." It drove me nuts. However, it became increasingly easier to overlook the further I read, because the story and it's character's had my rapt attention.

Great spin-off and I can't wait for the next!

Great Paranormal Series

Crusade - Nancy Holder, Debbie ViguiƩ

I really enjoyed this book! The loved the uniqueness of every character, and eagerly anticipate their development. With a glimpse of each character's back story, there's enough history to keep this series going for a while. I can't wait until the next book to see how Jenn develops in her new role as the lead Hunter! Vampires, witches, werewolves, priests and voodoo queens..... can't get much more exciting than that!!

That. Is. All.

Charmed  - Cambria Hebert

I love Charming and Frankie!! That. Is. All. LOL ;)

How To Make Wallpaper Static

Thanks to Kara from Great Imaginations and Elspeth the Totally Awesome for alerting me to this.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So you're new to Booklikes, or you're not that adventurous, and you're stuck with one of the three basic themes.

You can upload wallpaper through customising your theme.

But hang on a minute! The wallpaper is repeating down the page! And it's half light and half dark and some of my grey text is getting lost in it! I CAN'T READ THE PAGE. It's all the wallpaper's fault!

Stress not, dear one! Elspeth's Ephemeral Musings alerted me on how to 'fix' your wallpaper so the text glides over it and the same picture stays:

Go to settings>blog>theme:customize>edit HTML

...find this:

{% if customize.colorTitle %}h1.header-title a { color: {{ customize.colorTitle }}; }{% endif %}
{% if customize.bg %}body { background: url("{{ customize.bg }}") 0 0 fixed; }{% endif %}
{{ customize.css }}

See where it says 'fixed', it's usually 'repeat'. Just change it to fixed and it will make your wallpaper stationary.

You have to do it individually for each page of your profile. Shelf, timeline etc

----------------------------------------------------------------

Go forth my lovelies, and customise your wallpaper!

Sweet and Edgy

The Summer of Me & You - Rae Hachton

It never takes me long to get caught up in the stories Rae writes. This one however, hooked me much earlier as it didn't start out like I'd expected. I think that's what I enjoy about all her books; they are so unique and unlike anything else out there. Rae is a one-of-a-kind author, and I'll read anything she writes.

The Summer of Me & You is a contemporary romance that contains not only a sweet romance, but an edgy darkness to it as well, and for me, that's what makes it stand out.

Kaleb and Kayleigh's relationship was troubled and perfect...exactly how most romances truly are. It was doomed yet fated and I loved it. The End

While I wait...
While I wait...

While I wait patiently for my measly 633 books to import from Goodreads (thank goodness I didn't use my Shelfari shelf which is over 6,000 books at the moment) I just wanted to take the time to say that I'm very excited to be a part of this new community. The help I've received here thus far has been outstanding. And, I'm enjoying the shelf/blog/timeline format.

I'll continue to get familiar with things while I wait, then make any adjustments necessary, but so far...I think I'm gonna like it here a lot! :)

The Rose Trilogy Box Set - Tish Thawer

The Rose Trilogy Box Set is now available. Collect book 1-3, plus the bonus short-story.

Charmed - Cambria Hebert I love Charming and Frankie!! That. Is. All. LOL ;)
The Witch's Daughter - Paula Brackston The beauty of this book comes from it's keen words and accurate details. The trip we take through time, shadowing Elizabeth's life, is woven with such fine imagery, it felt as if I was witnessing the events first hand...a good sign of any true storyteller.
Redemption - Brynn Myers I can't stress enough how awed I am by this story and the detailed writing Brynn demonstrates in this book.The story line continues seamlessly from Entasy, the prequel, and builds momentum as Kylah reclaims her previously forgotten life. The character development is fantastic, and their relationships had me laughing, crying, and cussing throughout.However, the key point that earned five stars from me is the intricate world-building. The scenes are so finely described that I wanted to be transported and left to wander the labyrinth of The Nine for months, discovering the magic of this fantastic place.Kudos to you, Brynn, this is a masterpiece in my eyes.
Frankie's Monster - Rae Hachton I was recently gifted with the opportunity to beta read Frankie's Monster for Rae Hachton. And when I say gifted...that's exactly what I mean.The level of raw emotion and the depth of feeling that this book portrays, had me feeling as if I owed Rae a debt - one that I would never be able to repay. The story transported me, taking me into a world of art, romanticism, beauty, violence, macabre, terror, and loss. Together those things made up one of the most moving and intelligent books I've read in a very long time.Rae reached into her soul to write this book and it shows. 5 stars for making the monster feel!
Alice in Zombieland (White Rabbit Chronicles) - Gena Showalter I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. Probably because I'd already heard all the mixed reviews. I knew it wasn't a take off on the actual "Alice" story. I enjoyed the twist Showalter put on the zombie tale and the characters she created to combat these new monsters. Cole is delicious, and I can't wait to learn more about Ali's mysterious gifts. I will definitely be continuing this series.
Shadow of Night - Deborah Harkness I loved this book for the amount of factual details Ms. Harkness included. Once again, her research was impeccable. I loved recognizing the alchemic and spiritual/metaphysical elements that are woven throughout this entire book, since I am an avid student of these subjects. The love story between Matthew and Diana is one of legend, and experiencing history through their eyes, was a very enjoyable trip.I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
Iced - Karen Marie Moning I loved everything about this book except the repetitive use of the word "feck." It drove me nuts. However, it became increasingly easier to overlook the further I read, because the story and it's character's had my rapt attention.Great spin-off and I can't wait for the next!
Shadow Rising (An Otherworld Novel) - Yasmine Galenorn While I always fall into the world of the D'Artigo sisters with ease, this book left me a little disappointed. I felt like there were so many things that could have been explored further but weren't. I did, however, shed a tear at the heartfelt emotion at the end, but was still a little let down at the anti-climatic ending. Can't wait for the next one though, as this is a series I will continue till the end.
Masquerade - Cambria Hebert I now realize that I put off reading Masquerade for far to long...Cambria, please forgive me. :)I'm so happy that I finally found the time to dive in, because it was a fantastic read. The writing flowed seamlessly, and the love story between Sam and Heven was epic.I will immediately be moving on to Charade, as I can't wait to see what will happen next.
